A stoneware fired vessel decorated initially with a textured grogged clay followed by successive layers of deep brown, red/browns and a Naples yellow porcelain slip. A lightly sponged semi-opaque glaze has been applied to isolated areas on the exterior with a deep tenmoku fired inside. A maker's mark has been engraved to the base.
